On Friday, August 1, Point Place Casino will open the first phase of its $50 million expansion.
With 500 slot machines and 20 live-dealer and electronic table games, Point Place is a casino and eating establishment owned and run by the Oneida Indian Nation. The casino is situated beside Oneida Lake in Bridgeport.
The casino will add 400 more slot machines with the newest and most popular games starting on Friday. The renovated Fireside Lounge now features a bar with 70 chairs and a wood-burning fireplace with seating for 60.
Turning Stone Enterprises, a management company owned by the Oneida Indian Nation, runs Point Place.
"Our guests and our team members have made Point Place Casino a really special place to visit, and all of this growth won’t change that. Instead, it’s creating more ways to enjoy time with us. These updates are only the first step, and there’s even more to be excited about in the months ahead,” said Jerry Marrello, Turning Stone Enterprises’ vice president.
“We’re thrilled to share the first phase of our expansion with guests, especially because so many of these updates and new amenities were driven by their feedback,” Marrello added.
The first stage of the Point Place makeover includes refurbishing the casino's Perfect Pour Café in addition to the new casino and updated Fireside Lounge. Additionally, a new guest services desk has opened.
Future Growth
According to Marrello, the second phase of the $50 million investment in the Point Place Casino would include on-site accommodations, including 100 hotel rooms and eight suites.
There are also plans to build extra parking, an American barbecue, and more event space. Additionally, Burgers of Madison County is growing its morning hours.
As the tribe completes its $370 million investment at its larger facility, Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, the Oneida Indian Nation is renovating Point Place Casino for $50 million. The goal of that enlargement project was to increase convention business at the resort location in upstate New York.
In addition to 258 additional hotel rooms, a boutique casino, and a 2,000-place parking garage, about 77K square feet of flexible event space has been constructed.
Tribal Casinos in New York Succeed
Three federally recognized tribes in upstate New York, including the Oneida Indian Nation, have Class III gaming compacts with the state that allow them to run conventional slot machines, play live dealer table games, and wager on sports in person. The Seneca and Cayuga nations are the other tribes.
The Oneida's Turning Stone Resort Casino features 900 slot machines at Point Place, 2,000 slots, 66 tables, a bingo hall, New York's largest poker room, and a sportsbook. The resort features 54 holes of championship golf, more than 20 restaurants and bars, a concert venue, a spa and fitness center, more than 1,000 hotel rooms spread among five lodging options, and plenty of space for weddings and conventions.
Tribal casinos within its East Coast sector saw an 11.2% increase in gross gaming income in the 2024 fiscal year, reaching over $10.2 billion, according to a report released Thursday by the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC).
